My wife and I are having a disagreement on the behavior of our 2 boys ages 11 and 13. It seems she caught them masturbating together while watching a movie in our basement family room. It was a movie they were not allowed to watch but did anyway. She was QUITE upset and seems to think there is something wrong with this behavior. We've always been very open-minded and her reaction to this is suprising to me. I feel it's a natural part of growing up.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with that. I mean they are getting into those "curious" years. Whether your wife likes it or not it's going to happen. It's part of growing up and like you said it's natural. Still, I think, you should have a talk with them about safe sex. Kids these days have sex younger and younger.

Thanks for the reply. Since I posted that my wife finally confessed that what really bothered her the most was that her little boys are growing up so fast. And catching them in such a compromising position just blew her away. Understandable. I simply told them to find a more private place to do private things!

I feel bad for you boys if they found out that their mom caught them masturbating. That is a nightmare scenario for any pubescent boy.

I'm sure the boys were way more embarrassed, then your wife could ever have been. It is a natural part of life when children experiment at that age...especially prepubescent boys. Nothing to worry about. You might talk to them, and remind them that while this is normal, they need to explore these things in private.
