Religious Discrimination

Religious Discrimination. I have heard many reports of people getting fired, picked on, and the like just because of their beliefs.

I've had a few people try to convert me or simply argue or pick on me for my beliefs. My friend's boyfriend came over one day and kept telling me that I was goin to hell because I wasn't christian and so and so. He started yelling at me and stuff. I have NOTHING against ANY religion. It just bugs me when people bully you for what you believe in and when people try to shove their religion down your throat. My dad used to get on my case for not being Christian a lot when I was younger...He's changed now, which is good Smile

Anyways yeah, it's pretty sad when people discriminate. People just need to accept that there are other religions and beliefs out there and shouldn't judge a person based on their religion whether they're Christian, Wiccan, Buddhist, Jewish, ect...

There are always going to be people who discriminate. If it isn't about religion, it's about politics, race, and anything else people disagree over , Most of the time you just have to let it role off your back, and change the subject. People belive what they want to and they have a right to do so....but they don't have the right to shove it down other people's throats. That's my thoughts

It is true that it is not just religious descrimination, it is something much larger. Religious descrimination is just one of the many symptoms, one aspect, of something larger. Take The St. Louis Cardinal fans for instance. They are the same way that person who went off on you was. Just as all Christians are not like that, not all cardinal fans are like that, even though most of them are... If you are even in a disagreeable conversation with them about their team or their "god", they will just get filled with hatred and project it unto you. Its an "illness" they must either break through over time and life experience, or just live out their life with it..the later group I really despise.. but if you ever find the common cardinals fan and you know something aout baseball, play they devils advocate and explain the flaws of their team and if you have a good enough point they will simply flip out on you... Its those kinds of christians and cardinal fans alike that give the group, as a whole, a bad name.... I am going to stop myself now because right now I could just ramble on and on about how fucked up it all is, but as I said... there is a much larger picture taking place and religious descrimination, among many other things, is just one of its symptoms.

Yeah. This unfortunately is a human thing. A lot of people, will defend their beliefs - and it is a belief - to the point of violence. It could be a religious belief or a political belief or something personal, whatever; it's part of many peoples makeup - and has very little, in this case, to do with sports. Its pride my dear, its pride. And anger. And throw a bit of the old ignorance in there too. Not that I'm above it at all mind you Shocked

Right. No, its not about sports, just an example, but it is the fact that people are overly protective over their beliefs.. I used to be like that, where when someone would not agree with my beliefs, I would get aggrivated because I was so "sure" of my beliefs and couldn't understand others.. over time I became different, more open minded to all sorts of idea. Now days I really have no set belief systems, besides mainly that there is life after death, besides that its mainly opinions.... but yeah, sometimes I just wished everyone was more open and could discuss such things without resorting to anger and such.

I never really got mad because someone didn't believe in what I did. I would just get mad because when I tried to explain myself they would just keep talking over me and not even give me a chance to explain myself.

So eventually I'm just like "Screw it, I'm not going to talk about it anymore, I know what I believe and that's all that matters. Think of me what you want. I'm not going to bring up my beliefs to you anymore." So I just quit talking to them about it. But sometimes, even when I try to end the conversation, they will still want to argue about it. They just can't get over the fact that you don't believe in what they believe in.

It still irritates me though, how people can bring you down because of your beliefs, just because it's not what they believe in. Oh well. There is no escaping it. To each his/her own. All that matters is that you know what you believe in and you're comfortable with it.
