Open Marriages..what?

I've always wondered. What is the point in getting married (two people in union together) when you're just going to invite other people into your married life to swing or have sex? Why not just stay a Poly boyfriends and girlfriends and just have a relationship that way? I've tried the whole poly thing before (not married! this was when I was a teen) and it never worked out both times. Lots of jealousy and drama. But marriage is supposed to be between two people, not 3 or 4. At least that's how I was raised. I have never understood open marriages. Mine as well stay just a poly bf and gf or whatever and not get married. IMO anyways. What do you think? (I'm not trying to offend anyone I've known some poly people and I don't hold anything against them for being poly)

My wife and I are comfortable with ourselves and with each other. We've partied (fooled around) with another couple and a friend of theirs a few times (always involving a hot tub, liquor and stimulants) and everyone knows it's just for fun. NO DRAMA!!!

I guess it works for some and it's just not for others. This one person I know did the whole poly thing and now everything is drama. I guess it just depends on the people and the amount of trust between those people. I could never do it I am a VERY jealous person and never want to share my husband with anyone cause he is mine! lol. Razz
