What About Hypnosis ?

Subject: What About Hypnosis ? Sat Feb 18, 2012 4:27 am

What do you think about hypnosis? Do you think that it implants false memories? Do you think it really helps people? Can it really control people? Do you even believe in it?

I never want to get hypnotized. I'm always afraid that I will say something embarrassing or get false memories implanted into my head. Honestly, I am kind of afraid of being hypnotized. I mean other than the reasons I stated above, what if they had some sort of mind control over me and make me think that I am someone else completely or that I did something I didn't really do. You know what I am saying?

What are your views?

I have been hypnotized, during counseling after the loss of my Mom, and it really doesn't feel like I was being hypnotized. I didn't receive any false memories, and it did help me...I felt totally calm and relaxed afterwards. It's a tool in therapy, that's all. Nothing to be scared of especially, if you have a good counselor. Not every counselor will do this. Just my take.

I am interested by hypnotization. Performing and receiving, but it probably best for a professional... I have heard that when you are under hypnosis, they can't make you do something that you wouldn't do when your conscious, but that is just hear say. I have never seen it take place, but I heard that SIUE had someone visit that hopnotized volunteers... I wonder to myself if it worked on everyone or if some people were just being dumb.

I don't know about that....but when I was under it really didn't feel like I was, but many of my inhibitions were gone and I could talk and respond about things that I might not have been able to without being under the influence of hypnosis

there is books at the library on it . Ive worked at a doughnut shop owned by the old chief of police in alton he also had a hypnosis office on milton rd . next to milton school . imagine getting pulled over by him . (i always hated going to work after shrooming 5 am he would show up drinking coffee bs-ing with his car running and his police radio on . ) It always seemed those would be the days he would talk about his hypnotism storys .
